Foundation 2 Curriculum
Welcome to F2's Class Page...
Our F2 team are very excited for the year ahead. Your teachers are Miss Jackson (F2 Elm) and Mrs Saddique, Mrs Lynch (F2 Beech), supported by Miss Kitchen and Mrs Oram who work across both classes. We have an amazing team here in F2 who are here to support you every step of the way.
Autumn 1 - What makes me, me?
We are excited to welcome you all to Broom Valley Community School. We hope you have had a lovely summer holiday and are eager to start your school journey with us. Our main priority for children, as they start school, is to ensure they feel safe and confident to explore their new environment. Children will be supported in developing new relationships with their peers and staff.
This half term, children will start their phonics learning following the Read, Write, Inc. scheme and will be focusing on learning about what similarities and differences they have. Children will explore different ways of making marks and develop the skills needed to create a self-portrait. We will then host our first parent workshop to showcase new knowledge.
Autumn 2 - Traditional tales
Following a great start to the year, F2 are excited to be back. We have a busy half term ahead with preparation for the Nativity soon to start and many festivals and celebrations to learn about. Our priority this half term is getting writing. Now children have had a strong start with phonics, we will begin to apply that new knowledge to writing, specifically letter formation and segmenting and blending. Our wider curriculum focus is design and technology, with each child creating their own bookmark to sell at our Winter wonderland Christmas Market.
Children's learning will focus around traditional tales, learning about the idea of 'once up on a time', mythical creatures and imaginary lands. This leads nicely into our Christmas pantomime of Jack and the Beanstalk.
