“Together We Dare To Dream Big”

Y6 Curriculum

Welcome to Y6’s class pages!

Spring term 2025:

Y6 staff are thrilled to have pupils back in school to embark on their second term of the year. Your teachers are: Mrs Lillie, Miss Eyre and Miss Revill and your learning assistants are: Mrs Jones, Mrs Gulfraz and Mrs Billingsley. Our key subject driver will be geography, where we will develop our knowledge and understanding of North America and all its wonderful features. We will study a variety of countries to explore the process of migration; trade and economical growth. There will be opportunities for us to develop our knowledge within French, PE, RE, PSHE, computing and music alongside our daily lessons of mathematics, reading and writing. Our science will focus on the physics topic of 'light' where we will investigate how shadows are formed and if how light travels can be affected. We will also reactivate past learning by revisiting  history, art, music and DT knowledge and skills weekly.

#Rotherhamlovesreading

Our core text for writing is:

  • Shackleton's Journey by William Gill

Our Reading for Pleasure text is:

  • Evernight by Ross MacKenzie

Things to remember:

  • Y6 will receive weekly, Friday homework to complete over the weekend and return on the following Monday. This will focus on knowledge or skills taught that week so the children have more opportunity to practise.
  • PE lessons are on Tuesdays and Thursdays so children need to come in their PE kit on those days. Please ensure your child wears suitable clothing (not jeans or boots). PE kits include a white T-shirt and black/blue joggers/leggings/shorts with trainers/pumps.
